Gym in Luang Prabang, Laos

Luang Prabang has only one reasonably priced gym, to the best of my knowledge. Fortunately, it is a pretty good gym, if you overlook the obvious age and dirtiness associated with most things in this part of the world. Many of the nice hotels have gyms and fitness facilities, but are extremely expensive and not worth the bother.

  • Squat racks
  • Bench press

My opinion of the gym in Luang Prabang

This is a good gym. It has all of the equipment that you need for a good workout, there is rarely ever anybody else there and I really like training in the open air. The obvious downside to this is the lack of air conditioning, and depending on time of year, it might be extremely hot. The heat is the only reason I could think for a serious trainee to seek out a hotel gym instead of training here.

If you are looking for a gym in Luang Prabang I would definitely recommend this one over paying 5+ times as much for a hotel gym that, while better presented, is not half as well equipped.

I was just in Luang Prabang and worked out at “Big Muscle Gym” (haha) on Kingkitsarath Rd just east of Kitsalat rd. 15000 kip for ladies and 20000 kip for guys. The facilities look pretty much the same, pretty basic and a bit dirty again, but everything you need for a good workout. Close at 8 pm. Pretty bummed to read in your other post that there are no gyms in Vang Vieng!
