Gym on Khao San Road, Bangkok

If you’re like me, if you are staying somewhere for more than a day or two, you will need to scope out the local gym. Khao San Road is many things, but a fitness haven it is not. I did find a decent enough gym for a few days though.

Facilities

The Buddy Hotel has a gym on Khao San Road, Bangkok.

The gym is small but reasonably well equipped for lifting weights and cardio. It also features a boxing ring and various different punch bags and miscellaneous boxing equipment.

Unfortunately there is no squat rack and the floor is not reinforced so probably not a good place to do heavy deadlifts, however the gym does feature:

  • Barbell & plates
  • Dumbbells
  • Benches
  • Pull up / dip station
  • Decline sit up bench
  • Smith machine
  • Mats
  • Treadmills
  • Exercise bikes
  • Boxing ring
  • Punch bags
  • Speed ball

How to find gym on Khao San Road

It is on the third floor of the Buddy Hotel/shopping centre complex, with the swimming pool on the 5th floor.

Prices

Use of the gym is 200baht for one day, or 350baht for 2 days. There was a 7 day price that works out cheaper but unfortunately  I did not record it.

My opinion of Buddy Hotel gym on Khao San Road, Bangkok

The gym is a little warn down, but as hotel gyms go it is not badly equipped. Well enough for a reasonable workout for a couple of days and ideally situated right on the Khao San Road, ideal if you are staying on/around the road and looking for something close by and convenient. The price is definitely not cheap, as Thailand goes, but you are paying for the convenience.

I worked out there twice whilst I spent 3 days in the area and there was never more than 2 other people in the gym at the same time as me, so plenty of space and equipment to go around.

  • Thanks for writing about this gym since I was looking to get some workout done while spending a few days in Bangkok.

The gym was better than expected, the only minus was that there was only one barbell and that was on the benchpress – was looking to do bicep curls. But the dumbells did the job anyways and for the back they hade a great pull down / row station.

They bring you a towel upon paying, don’t use this to dry your sweat off though – they have one shower in the locker room (I found that out after the workout!)

Overall, decent gym and as said: very few people at any given time so you basically have the whole thing for yourself. I can confirm that the price is still 200 baht for one day.

Hi Phil! Thanks for the information. I have a doubt, and I hope you can answer me: I am wondering if you were a guest at the hotel and you were charged to use the gym, or if they are open for people that are not hotel guests, by charging fees?

    • It’s open to the public. I wasn’t staying at the hotel
