I thought I would write a MentorBox review, because MentorBox is the best thing I bought in 2017. I’ll tell you why in this post, and considering it is just $7 per month, it is insanely good value.
What is MentorBox?
If you don’t know what MentorBox is, it is a book summary and action facilitating membership.
In other words, it takes high quality self-development and business books, summarises them in a 45-90 minute video and then gives a workbook to implement what you have learnt.
There are two main benefits to this:
- You can get through a book per day, by just watching a ~ 1 hour video that summarises the key points.
- You don’t just skim through a book and then forget about it. The workbooks allow you to actually think deeply and apply the learnings to your own life.
If you know much about the science of learning you will know that we retain very little information by just reading it.
The beauty of MentorBox is the workbooks ensures you:
- See the key points numerous times – the law of repetition
- Think about them and apply them to your own life – the law of specificity
- Write things down – writing uses a different part of the brain and tends to embed things into long term memory better than just saying or thinking something
If you’re anything like me and you love reading, you’ll tend to race through books, hoovering up all of the information and then be excited to start the next book.
This is great, and it’s obviously a productive habit to enjoy reading, but it’s not the most effective way to implement the things you learn – which is kind of the point.
MentorBox allows me to implement things much easier. I don’t have to check myself and be disciplined to actually go back and do the exercises, think about and apply the concepts to my life, and implement things. It’s all part of the process.
My MentorBox review
The first thing I enjoyed about MentorBox was their marketing.
They had been blowing up my Facebook feed for weeks before I really looked to find out what it was. As soon as I read an ad and clicked through, I was hooked. It was very well marketed and sold.
I then enjoyed going through their funnel, taking notes, and screenshots of all the things they offered in addition to their core product.
This will only be interesting if you’re a marketing geek, but I enjoyed it.
Once I’d signed up and got inside I was impressed with the caliber of books they have. There are modern and old classics, along with a few I hadn’t heard of before.
My main concern was that it might be full of fluff books from nobodies that I didn’t care for, but this wasn’t the case.
The books I’d already read were still valuable to revisit and go through the workbook exercises. Meanwhile, I was introduced to some new books and authors that I wasn’t aware of, but have enjoyed.
Implementing the workbooks has been really successful for me. Reading is only the first step of self-development, and the truth is, nothing changes until you implement.
The workbooks have made implementation easy, and I have seen progress in various parts of my life as a result of doing them.
Would I recommend MentorBox?
I would recommend MentorBox, and indeed have done to my friends.
It’s a great way to speed up your self-development and learning, by using the book summaries and workbooks. I highly recommend you check it out and sign up.
For such a low price – $7/month – it’s a no-brainer purchase for me.
